Fox29 news out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania caught a group of police brutaly beating 3 suspects late Monday night. The police in Philadelphia are on edge after a botched robbery took the life of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.
The news crew caught about eleven minutes of the beating and the video shows about a minute of the conflict. The 3 suspects were reportedly involved in an unrelated shooting on Saturday. Mayor Nutter and Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey plan to launch a full investigation into the beatings. They both stated the killing of Liczbinski was a precursor to the beatings and used this as an excuse for the officers actions.
Ramsey will identify the officers in the video and then will take them all of of street duty in an effort to calm the situation in Philadelphia.
Scott Perrine, a defense lawyer said he would represent the 3 suspects at their bail hearings and stated these beatings are, “police conduct that should have stopped in the 1970s.” Perrine also stated that “This was one of the most reprehensible displays of police brutality I have ever seen.”
The 3 suspects may have been identified as Dwayne Dyches, Brian Hall and Pete Hopkins. All 3 men needed hospitalization over this incident, but police did not comment on their injuries or conditions.
The Philadelphia police can be seen repeatedly kicking and punching the suspects some wielding batons. No gun was found in the car in a search after the suspects were handcuffed and taken away. One this is certain, the Philadelphia police will have a civil lawsuit on their hands after the incidents of Monday night.
Anytime any police agency abuses their authority they need to be called to task and held accountable for their actions. And if these suspects Dwayne Dyches, Brian Hall and Pete Hopkins have been permanently injured in any way, then they should get to live off the city of Philadelphia for the rest of their lives.
This country has changed. Was this even covered in the local media in Philly? Where is the response from the public? Policy brutality is inexcusable. I’m disgusted.
Thats disgusting! We rely on the law enforcement agencies to protect and serve…..not beat the life out of us. We all need protection….but not from the police. I hope their lawyers go into overtime on the lawsuit.
